The Weekend Desk Report

By Natasha Julius
Well, dang. All of our plans completely fell through, so it looks like we’ll be watching the news again this weekend.
Market Update
Turns out the era of ill-advised corporate bailouts for troubled assets isn’t quite over yet.

Spoil the Rod
Rush Limbaugh this week decried President Obama’s response to the devastation in Haiti, saying the Commander-in-Chief is merely trying to curry favor with the black community. And why not? Our sources indicate cozying up to Blago again might just be worth something soon.
Adding Time
According to the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, we should all feel safer knowing the world will move back one minute from Doomsday this year. Just keep that in mind next time you’re waiting for the bus.
Waiting Game
Of course, the sunny news out of the scientific world hasn’t stopped the Bears from hunkering down for the End of Days.
One Step Backward . . .
Finally this week, we won’t be offering any odds on how far the Doomsday Clock will shift next year because, according to our calculations, it’s already here

The Weekend Desk Tip Line: Hunkered and bunkered.
