Chicago - A message from the station manager

The [Wednesday] Papers

By Steve Rhodes
A column today is iffy, but check back throughout the day, there’s still a lot of Olympic inanity to cover. Too much. It’s exhausting.
For example, I just saw a report that Michelle Obama plans to tell IOC members “how Chicago works.”
If only!

If there was ever any doubt that the Obamas are part and parcel of the Daley Machine – and should there really have been any to begin with – I hope those have been dispelled by now.
My God, Michelle used to work for him.
Don’t get me started.

Fox Chicago’s Jeff Goldblatt just reported from Copenhagen that his microphone was taken away from him yesterday after asking the mayor two questions about violence back home.

But that doesn’t mean we have nothing new yet to offer. To the contrary.
* Bad News: Rio Is Choking.
* The Secret Delegation: No Games Chicago Somewhere In Denmark.
* Forget Polanski; Get Morales!
* The Invisible Man Puts The Fix In.
* Blue Oyster Cult and Britney Spears in Trivial Pursuit.
* Are Health Insurance Mandates Legal?
* Tom Brady vs. Tyler Thigpen.

Programming Note: I’m scheduled to appear on The John Williams Show on WGN-AM at 10:30 Thursday morning to talk about the Olympic bid.

Advertising Note: We’ve got a new ad we’ll be running for a few weeks here and/or some other places on the site. I’d like to not only draw your attention to it, but reiterate that our advertising and editorial are separated as you hopefully expect.
In fact, we’d love to take ads from the Quinn campaign as well. And the Republicans. And the Greens. And almost everyone short of the Nazi Party. Make inquiries here.

The Beachwood Tip Line: Open for business.
