Kickstarting The Chicago Writers Conference

Bringing Writers And Publishers Together

The inaugural Chicago Writers Conference will take place September 14-16, 2012 at the historic Tribune Tower, conference founder Mare Swallow has announced.
To help with initial start-up costs, the conference is running a Kickstarter campaign until April 24.

After writing her own book, Swallow discovered there was no organized conference in Chicago to help writers meet publishers, editors, and agents. She founded the CWC to help writers learn the latest trends and techniques for getting their work published.
“The aim of the conference is to bring Chicago area writers together with publishing professionals,” explains Swallow, “and to help them learn to sell and promote their work.”
More than a dozen speakers are already scheduled, including:
* Writers Digest editor Chuck Sambuchino
* Publishers Dominique Raccah and Doug Siebold
* Award-winning authors Christine Sneed and Robert K. Elder
In addition to educational seminars, the conference will also feature live literary readings.
