The Week in WTF

1. The Rev. Bede Jagoe, WTF?

The TSA is cracking down on overly enthusiastic airport security friskers at Midway.

2. Eye of Newt, WTF?

Don't you get the feeling that Newt Gingrich never thought Republicans would take him seriously as a candidate and has only recently realized he might be running against the real president in a real election?

3. New Sun-Times, WTF?

There is no visible evidence that new Sun-Times CEO Timothy Knight, a Chicago lawyer before he was a news guy, has any skill his predecessors at the ST's helm didn't.

As publisher at Newsday in New York, he was a budget whacker and staff slasher who ran out of corpses to pitch over the side two years ago. Sound familiar?

The more interesting piece of this soap opera is cash partner Michael Ferro. He ran software giant Click Commerce Inc. into massive profits and then cashed out in a deal some investors thought was overly generous to himself and less so for everyone else.

So, more of the same.

4. Kim and Joshua Mattern, WTF?

The first question you have to ask is how you can turn a large, inflatable penguin into a beloved family heirloom. WTF had an inflatable friend once, but that was a whole different thing.

5. Senator Cheesehead, WTF?

The neighboring congressman from behind the Cheese Curtain apologizes for his vocabuclerical error but who can blame him? What nerve that Michelle Obama has to cajole kids into eating better food.

Comments welcome.
