Chicagoetry: Led Zeppelin At The Stadium, Easter Sunday, 1977

By J.J. Tindall

LED ZEPPELIN AT THE STADIUM, EASTER SUNDAY, 1977

Minick got grounded
For

Drinking. He sold me
His ticket

For twenty-dollars
In cash,

Walked up to me
In the hallway

At Our Lord
Of the Flies

All Boys Career
Academy

In
Naperville.

SOLD
AMERICAN!

We took
The Burlington-

Northern,
then the Madison

Bus. "Everybody
Do

The
Madison!"

Same bus
On which

I was slipped
A packet

Of Angel
Dust (which

I ditched
Under the seat),

For giving this
Dude directions

For the Queen
Show. Anyhoo:

Our seats
Were below

The organ.
We had

Binochulars!
The air smelled

Of
Cherry.

Three-plus hours of brutal,
Unrepentant

Rock and
Roll.

Jimmy came out
In black Stormtrooper gear,

Breeches and
Jackboots, pilot's

Cap. Then:
The White

Zoso
Suit.

Half-hour acoustic
Set

In the
Middle,

Smoke-bombs,
Green laster

Pyramids.
The air

smelled the air
smelled

Of
Cherry.
