Chicagoetry: Column

Column

My mom was a Newsbabe. She
wrote a column for the
Naperville Sun.
She started
as a general
assignment
reporter and
photographer.
It was the
Seventies.

She became
a columnist,
replete w/byline
and head shot. A
favorite memory
is of me, Dad
and she in the
living room of
our Benedetti split-level in Moser
Highlands, me in
a fat chair across
from Dad on the
couch - blue bermudas,
black socks - with
Mom in the chair at his
feet-with-the-black-socks while
she bounced ideas off of him for
her column. I'm going "This is the life!"
