"Its cutthroat music may not have been for everyone, but the Chicago quartet's performances were everything a rock 'n' roll show should be: a spontaneous blast of personality in which anything could happen, and often did."

The Jesus Lizard will play its first hometown show in 11 years this Friday at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park, on an opening-night bill with Yo La Tengo, Built to Spill, and tortoise.
