Final Postcards From Pitchfork

Last in a series.

Reading through the coverage of Pitchfork was inspiring. This is what it's all about folks.

*

1. "In the case of Beach House, the nocturnal emissions suffered none in the sun, their swooning set of Teen Dream quickly reminding the park that said LP should be a lot higher on people's year-end lists," amrit writes for Stereogum.

-

2. "I ended Pitchfork 2010 with St. Vincent hoping to see Annie Clark tear up the stage. While Clark played impressively, like Beach House, she felt distant," Alexandra Davis writes for Artist Direct. "I listened through 'Actor out of Work' before I headed out, decidedly disappointed that I could have just listened to her CD and had pretty much the same experience.

-

3. Point: "The Shoulda-Seen-It-Set of Pitchfork" by the Reader's Miles Raymer.

Counterpoint: "Hate to be a hater, but the Gary, Indiana-born rapper's 'make money, money, make money, money' mantra sounded like dimestore hip-hop," writes Cassie Walker at Chicagomag.com. "Took the 10-year-old in the crew thinking it would be a dance party; left quickly under the assault of tired 'playa' imagery and f-bombs."

-

4. The crowd doesn't get it.
