The Weekend Desk Report

By Natasha Julius

Oh, come on, don't leave! This Report is going to be awesome!

Kickoff!
It's finally here - NFL Kickoff Weekend 2009. And with that, it's time for the Weekend Desk Handicapping Department to spring into action. Here are our official picks for this weekend's key match-ups.

Chargers at Raiders
The Raiders have impressed with their ability to raid themselves. Expect the Charges to roll, even if they're not getting charged.

Pick: Chargers

Lions at Saints
Historically, this match-up never favors the Lions.

Pick: Saints

Bears at Packers
A lot people doubt the Bears' chances of long-term dominance, but the Packers are far from last year's form as well. In the short run, it's just too close to call.

Pick: Push

Bills at Patriots
It looks like just about anyone could beat the Bills right now, even if we can't figure out exactly who the Patriots actually are.

Pick: Patriots

Poor Segue
Speaking of world-changing events, it seems the man who boldly reinvented the way humankind travels is focusing on another basic need. Dean Kamen has created a high-tech and high-cost machine that he believes can compete with the sun.
