The [Thursday] Papers

"During the debate, Emanuel fiddled with his fingernails, pulled up his socks multiple times and appeared to stifle a yawn or two when Romney was talking," the Sun-Times reports

I'm not sure which would be worse: This story idea originating within the Sun-Times newsroom or City Hall.

Question reporter apparently didn't ask: Hey Rahm, what's wrong with the president?

M.I.A.: The 47 percent.

Why? Certainly not for the reason Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki gave to Lynn Sweet of the Sun-Times.

Questions Sweet apparently didn't ask Psaki:

A) Did the campaign do polling on it?

B) Did Obama rehearse on it?

C) Does that mean the president won't bring it up for the remainder of the campaign?

A more likely explanation is that he never found a comfortable moment to bring it out - or that a decision was made that such an attack wouldn't appear "presidential."

Charles in Charge
"A guest column submitted to the Register Star by Rep. Chuck Jefferson in support of a rate increase designed to help ComEd pay for upgrades to its energy grid was written by ComEd, an e-mail between the company and Jefferson's office shows," the Rockford paper reports.

Wait. Does Charles Jefferson actually live here?
